Description: This was a crazy easy project... almost too easy. I wanted to control one of those cheap LED strips from an ESP8266. Just used io.adafruit.com with IFTTT, then google assistant as the trigger, and you're all set. IFTTT: ifttt.com io.adafruit: io.adafruit.com MQTT on Adafruit: learn.adafruit.com/welcome-to-adafruit-io CODE: kevindarrah.com/download/arduino_code/trigBoard_GoogleASST_7_20_19.ino Note that I'm using a trigBoard, but you can use anything you want including anything based on the ESP32. One cool thing about the trigBoard is that it has an on-board timer, which will automatically reset the ESP8266 once an hour... this is nice for situations when the power goes out or the WiFi router is reset. It ensures the ESP8266 always has a WiFi connection.
