I want you to join me in the studio for a 'job day' including varnishing paintings and getting my artwork ready to sell. I will be doing some oil painting, finishing off old artworks that never got finished. It will be a complete 'behind the scenes' of an artist in her studio. A lot of people have many questions about varnishing paintings. The truth is it's totally a matter of choice. Acrylic paints (especially good quality ones) have been designed to withstand the test of time so unless you want your painting to last hundreds of years in pristine condition, I wouldn't worry too much. Oil paintings can benefit from a varnish as this protects them from UV damage & gives another layer to protect against dust and degradation. However you must wait till your oil painting is completely dry, which is usually at least 6 months. If you're not sure about varnishing, just do a google search and you can find all the info you need there to make a choice about your painting. ☆ Watch Next...
