Description: In this second video on making solid tungsten carbide chisels in your own shop, I show how to perform some of the shaping on ordinary power tools. With the right wheels and jigs, carbide can be cut just as quickly as steel. These are tools that will stay sharp up to 100 times longer than ordinary steel chisels. You don’t need a lot of specialized equipment, and the diamond stones and blades you will need have become extremely affordable. For a link to the first video in this series, see youtu.be/dWUoKy8rCcQ For more information on making micro-sized chisels and gouges, see my earlier series Making Detail Carving Tools, Part 1: youtu.be/m6vdSdN65gE For more information on making handles, ferrules, and setting the blades, see youtu.be/YbgdAR0u9fA For a template for the turned handle, see my website at psullivancarmel.wixsite.com/templates . I sometimes tout products that I like, and I receive no compensation of any kind for my recommendations.
