Snake catcher and ANU academic Gavin Smith, 42, said a local wildlife rescue group called him after a member of the public found the 1.3-metre Eastern brown snake, with its head stuck in an empty Coca-Cola can in Canberra, Australia. Gavin said: "I was very glad that the member of the public who found the snake had been able to prevent it from crossing the highway, which it had tried to do."
