Description: In general, experts say dogs have the intelligence of a 2-year-old child. The American Kennel Club, or the AKC, recognizes 167 breeds. However, there may be over 340 in the world. Out of those hundreds of dog breeds, which ones are the smartest? Keep watching to find out! Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. 6. Jack Russell Terrier Most Jack Russell terriers grow from 9.8 to 15 inches or 24.9 to 38.1 centimeters in height. For a dog, that’s fairly small. Even so, you won’t find anything lacking in this tiny pupper! Their hyperactive personalities mean there’s never a dull moment with a Jack Russel terrier. If you live an athletic lifestyle, on-the-go lifestyle, this is the dog for you! They can keep up with all your running around and are compact enough to hold if you need to. Beware, they are aggressive as they are smart. Maybe you’ll be the one trying to keep up with them! 5. American Staffordshire Terrier The American Staffordshire terrier is a stocky, buff dog, measuring up to 19 inches or 48.26 centimeters at the shoulder. People with small apartments or no backyard, this is not the dog for you! The AmStaff is agile and needs space to let out all their energy. Any pent-up intensity will cause them to act lethargic or even disobedient--but that’s only because all their brain-power requires activity. You will find a more active AmStaff is one that is also more willing to listen to you. 4. Shetland Sheepdog The next herding dog we’re talking about today is the Shetland sheepdog. This dog originated from the Shetland Islands of Scotland, hence its name. The Shetland sheepdog, or Sheltie for short, is a large dog with a long coat. If you don’t have time for the training and maintenance that comes with taking care of this dog, don’t get one! Shetland sheepdogs are lively and responsive, which requires a lot of time on your hands when it comes to raising them. Without proper socializing from a young age, Shetlands may bark a lot at humans and other dogs. However, when face to face with new people, they may act rather shy once they get all their barking out of their system. This phase won’t last long as they are responsive to teachings, making them easily trainable. 3. Doberman Pinscher Their pointy ears and long, shark-like snouts make them appear menacing, but Doberman pinschers are absolute sweethearts! Hollywood used to cast these canines as evil characters in movies. Doberman pinschers played the part well because they’re good at following commands, which makes them great actors! This tall, lean dog is known for being intensely loyal and powerful. You'll want this little fellow guarding you at night. Similar to many smart dogs, pinschers are rather stubborn. In their youth, they may bark a lot, but this is mostly due to attention-seeking. Show your dog how much you love them and they will act much more agreeable. 2. German Shepherd To some, German shepherds are to be feared. For others, they are to be loved because they’re so protective. If you see a German Shepherd, don’t assume that they’ll attack. However, if you mess with them or their owner, don’t expect anything less than a growl (or more). These big boys are very alert, which is why the military and police employ them in service. Like Doberman pinschers, they’re great dogs for the silver screen since they follow commands well. 1...
