Description: A common idea when people start woodworking is using it as a side hustle. A means to earn some extra money. Maybe only so the hobby pays for itself or the kids need tuition. This mindset leads to a the goal of small production runs because if customers like something you want to make it again. A few videos back I developed the design of a table with the goal of making them in small batches. Then a follow up video I explored different applications for that design to see viability of alternative ancillary products. This video I’m working on the processes to make the table simply, repeatably and efficiently. What sets this video apart, and contributes to it’s length, is I’m developing batch production processes for three calibers of craftspeople. Those just starting out who might only have a few DIY power hand tools. Another for a hobbies whom might have some nicer power and stationary tools. And individuals who have access to professional level equipment. Each of these niches can produce the same piece but this exploration shows how efficiencies can be added as you save up and buy dedicated equipment. While this is developing processes for this particular 18” x 18” x 28” side table there are volumes of tips and tricks a craftsman in a small shop could use in making small batches of products.
