I look into the company and look at the product they are trying to make. I experience VR with competing devices and estimate where the technology is going. Meta is promising VR and AR and wants to create a platform for which companies and people can join. Will they succeed if they pour in billions of dollars? It certainly doesn't hurt but is the technology and processing power up to the task? In order for a system to be usable, the form factor may need to be dramatically reduced while quality dramatically increased. There are also other difficulties that keeps it form mass adoption. These include simulator sickness, screen door effects, and high cost of entry for now. So what's my conclusion? It is a bit too early to tell which company will win and since I like to see my money work for me in the 6-12 month time frame, I think I will wait on the side for now while observing the developments.
