Description: Silat Spear - Tombak. There are 3 types of Spear in Brunei; Tombak, Sinipit and Lembing. Tombak is commonly held on it’s own, Sinipit is usually held with a small circular shield on the other hand, and Lembing is accompanied with a bigger shield on the opposit hand. The 3 spears have different lengths and different weight to suit its intended purpose. The tombak is usually used when surrounded by multiple opponents fighting in a closed space, like in buildings, ships, and pathways of thick forest. The tombak movements have a big circular arc when viewed from the side, this is to have maximum reach to cover the front and rear. But when viewed from the front the movements are narrow and close to the body, this to make sure one can fight in hallways, forest pathways, at the entrance gate or a bridge. Every spear type has its own characteristics so its fighting method will be different in many ways but same in some ways. The tombak when understood, it teaches the use of the rattan staff efficiently. Please enjoy the video 🙏 22nd March 2022. Worthy mention of 2 popular speara used by natives of Borneo.
