Description: Her mind raced as the sheet fell silent, looming tall. Who knew her husband was gone for three weeks on business, who would know how to get in? No one, she thought, no one at all. She turned to face the intruder, who slowly cocked its head as she stepped backwards for her son. Max’s little fingers gripped the corner until he could reach for his mom’s shirt pocket. As soon as he made contact, the sheet began hurtling towards them. No door in the house had a working lock except for the front door and the master bedroom, and as the sheet chased her up the stairs and across the landing, it seemed to know that fact as well. It didn’t wait for her to pick a path, it just glided along after her, as if on a track. With one long linen hand outstretched, it nearly beat her to the knob - but she and Max made it through and clicked it shut on the other side. Max cried as the doorknob rattled and quaked. Thinking as fast as she could, she pried open the window to the roof. From here they could climb down the latticework and make it to the car. The sheet slipped its corner under the crack in the door, inching through with a mind of its own. She froze staring at it, her leg half out the window. Max stopped screaming. They just watched as the fabric kept pooling inside, about to take human shape again. Calmly, Max turned to her and spoke deeper than he ever had before, somehow knowing it was the end. As the sheet rose behind him, he intoned to her: “Why couldn’t you save me, Mom?” Before she could form words to speak, she slipped and fell down the roof, careening off the gutter and plummeting through the laundry line. With a horrible crack, she shattered on the ground below, corpse tangled in white cloth. Some sort of time passed before she rose again. The white sheet draped over her head didn’t stop her from seeing. Or maybe it did. It was hard to define what seeing was to her now. She didn’t need eyes, at any rate, for nothing could blind her from her purpose. She wanted to be inside, to be with her son, and just like that, so she was. Back in the living room, shaking her arms from under the cloth with her former self just ten feet away. She held Max’s attention, but he was too scared, hiding from her around the corner. That was okay. She’d make him see this time. She’d finally save him. ***** Y'all know the drill by now: Our cult horror/comedy/kinda-sorta-musical DUDE BRO PARTY MASSACRE III is now on vinyl! Both the soundtrack and the score, and all kinds of snazzy goodness when you open up the gatefold! Will you order your LP in Delta Bi Blue, Beer Kill Gold, or Bag of Oranges...uh...Orange?! sweatbandrecords.com/prod... Oh and our movie is making its way to ARROW real soon, and not for nothing, but that's Quentin Tarantino's favorite streaming service. Just throwing that out there, obnoxiously, at parties, for the rest of our lives.
