Description: Shaolin Kung Fu plum-blossom form (梅花拳: mei hua quan) by monk De Qian __________________ - combat strategy: this style teaches ground fighting. its main tactics are: tactic 21 - "plum substitutes withering peach (李代桃僵)": have substitute plans, your main plan may fail. tactic 22 - "remove firewood from under the pot (釜底抽薪)": if opponent's upper body guard is not easy to open directly or by feinting, a substitute is to target his lower body. the lower body is not as closely guarded and is an easier target than the upper body. tactic 23 - "deck the tree with fake blossoms (树上开花)": keep your failed tactic on display as a cover to hide both your failure and your new tactic. if opponent knows you change your target to his lower body, he would bring his guard downward to neutralize your plan. thus, keep trying to penetrate opponent's upper body guard even after changing your tactic to ground fighting. tactic 24 - "repair the way in the open, cross the city in the dark (明修栈道, 暗渡陈仓)": while overtly trying to open opponent's upper/lower body guard, covertly attack his lower/upper body simultaneously or consequently. these involve multiple high and low moves by upper and lower limbs combined together. __________________ - history: Song dynasty (960-1279): in the early years of the dynasty, based on chief monk Fuju (福居)'s teachings, his disciple monk Jueda (觉大) created 'mei hua quan'. it originally had about 96 postures. Yuan dynasty (1279-1368): in the late years of the dynasty, monk Jinnaluo (紧那罗) simplified mei hua quan form into about 29 postures. __________________ - note: there are various other forms and styles named 'mei hua quan' in Chinese kung fu, and they are historically and technically different from Shaolin mei hua quan. these are just different styles with similar names. __________________ Shaolin Kung Fu tutorial: - bodybuilding: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB9EB410ECABF43C8 - techniques: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6fQ8a5mXbyMpvEXB9C4j_NoVWmhf5zsz - styles: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8F75C68BF1246C2B - weapons: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE48D537F756421A2
