Description: My good buddies in NokNovum got around to demoing the Catalina Dynamic Chorus pedal I sent them, here's the result! For more info on this pedal, visit- seymourduncan.com/pedal/catalina Why Your Chorus Needs Dynamic Expression When you play guitar there’s an interaction between your hands, the strings, the pickups and your amplifier and speaker. There’s something primal and instinctive about it: pick delicately and your sound responds in kind, but pick harder and the intensity of your sound magnifies and matches your mood. The Catalina Dynamic Chorus takes this idea which is so fundamental to the way we play, and applies it to the chorus effect. When you engage the Dynamic Expression feature with the footswitch on the right, the Catalina will react to the strength of your playing, as dialed in with the Threshold knob. It senses how hard or softly you’re playing and adjusts the mix of the effect accordingly, in whichever direction you like. Set the Dynamic switch to ‘Soft’ and the effect fade in at softer picking strengths or as the note rings out. Set it to ‘Hard’ and your chorus effect will be high in the mix when your picking is stronger. In a way it’s like the same kind of intuitive interactivity you’re used to experiencing with gain, except with chorus. Want to watch Dynamic Expression in action? Here’s a video which shows how each mode can be used in a musical context.
