Description: This television special ran on National Educational Television back then. It presented an unusually honest attempt to talk straight with the viewing audience. No one had heard this conversation about sex or this research on TV before. This was breakthrough. The research the professor had done indicated that 64% of college students in 1963 thought that sex before marriage was wrong and they were not planning to do it. All of these research efforts about personal sexual behaviors were questionable then and now because many people said what they thought the interviewer wanted to hear. But generally, as I remember it (I was a college student at the time) many more young women were willing to have sex and even provoked it than ever said so publicly. You were around at that time, what do you think of this research and how does it relate to what you did or didn't do? What did you say? What did you do? And for those younger folks, I believe that the birth control pill and the women's rights movement gave more women the chance to experiment openly and also allowed women to be more honest about what they were doing and not doing.
