This is primarily for functional scoliosis (and hyper kyphosis), not to say that it doesn’t work for structural scoliosis (it does, you’ll simply need a different series). . Quick Arthrokinematic Laws: . 1. The thoracic and lumbar spine rotate OPPOSITE to the side of the concavity in neutral. 2. The thoracic and lumbar spine rotate TOWARDS the side of the concavity in extension or flexion. 3. Changes take a truckload of time and effort, so don’t complain that it doesn’t work after 3 days. . Alright now that we’ve gotten that out of the way. . Spending hours trying to ‘stretch’ your way into a straight spine (Scoliosis, Scheuermann’s etc) will never work. Because your CNS thinks where you are currently is normal. . Without forcing exploitation of new range of motion, you’ll come right back to where you were prior to your ‘stretching.’ . Real talk, correcting this takes a long time, it’s frustrating as heck, and most people will give up. . IF you have ANY spinal problems involving scoliosis or aggressive hyperkyphosis, this works, all the time, provided that you don’t have some funky bone spurs or complete degeneration that makes an X-ray look like a grenade went off in your joints. . Here’s the sequence (each one is 2 minutes of work time): . 1️⃣ Banded Extension Rotation - turn towards the concavity. 2️⃣ Banded Neutral Rotation - turn towards the concavity. 3️⃣ Fixed Reach Through - turn towards the concavity. 4️⃣ Supported Neutral Reach - turn towards the concavity. 5️⃣ PVC Reach Back - turn away from the concavity. .
