Here's a little acoustic version of my song, Papa. It's one of my favorites from my new album The Stages of Grief, so I hope you enjoy! Here's a little inspiration behind the song: I came out to my parents when I was 25 years old. It seems quite late, but I wasn’t ready until then. I was so nervous to do so. We've all heard horror stories about other LGBT people being disowned, kicked out of the house, or worse. Even though I knew my parents were generally kind people, there was still a part of me that was afraid. This song was based on how I thought the conversation would have went between my dad and I. In the end it didn’t go like this at all, because my dad is awesome. I’m so lucky that my dad (and my mom) were accepting of me. My wish for everyone else out there who’s struggling to come out is that you’ll be welcomed by your parents with open arms too. I know how tough it can be.
