Sunday’s pay-per-view needs to create a moment fans will never forget, and the main event has the potential to exceed all expectations by stealing the show. One of the biggest X-factors for the championship match is Lesnar and whether or not he has re-signed with the WWE. There have been rumors that Lesnar was considering a jump back to UFC, and the champion was shown at a UFC PPV recently. Even if Lesnar does sign a new long-term deal with the WWE, there is no doubt he will still be on a limited schedule like he has been since returning to the company. There has been backlash against Lesnar due to the title not being on television frequently, and the champion retaining would mean more of the same. There has also been backlash against Reigns since he won the 2015 Royal Rumble. There is a vocal portion of the WWE Universe that has turned on him due to his limited in-ring skills and his struggles on the microphone, and many feel he does not deserve to be in the main event of WrestleMania. Despite the controversy surrounding Reigns, WWE has gone all-in with him. From winning the Royal Rumble to beating Daniel Bryan in the main event of Fastlane, the proper conclusion to this storyline would be Reigns beating Lesnar and cementing his spot as one of the new faces of the company. Lesnar taking the loss may be hard to believe considering he is a former UFC champion, but he has shown the ability to tell a convincing story in the ring and put other talent over. Not only does Lesnar have the ability to carry Reigns in the match, but he also has the ability to almost singlehandedly get him over with the crowd by taking a relatively clean loss. The guy who beat Undertaker losing to Reigns would be a huge deal to wrestling fans. Even if the WWE doesn’t have confidence in Reigns to be the franchise player right now, the company has the ultimate trump card with Seth Rollins and the Money in the Bank briefcase. Reigns could still beat Lesnar clean—cementing his spot as a top face—and instantly build sympathy when Rollins takes the title away from him. While there is no doubt that the build to this match has been lackluster outside of the promos from Paul Heyman, the outcome of the bout has the potential to go down in history as one of the wildest endings in wrestling.
