Description: Hard to beat a well tuned wooden hand plane. Here we try and show a brief overview of what all I typically do to set up a “new” plane I rescue. With the correct set up, especially the cap iron, these simple old planes will easily handle any wood, hard or soft, with or against the grain, through knots and twisted or swirly interlocked grain, all with ease and leave a finish like polished marble.
