Description: In this tutorial we explain the "dusting" technique of cold-casting. This process entails pouring copper powder into a soft silicone mold (in this case a soft Gel-10 mold), pouring it back out, leaving a thin film of copper powder inside the mold. We then mixed up some ArtKast resin to pour into the mold. We chose the ArtKast formula as it is fairly hard (72D) so it polishes well. ArtKast is also a relatively inexpensive resin formula. We finished the cast with Sculpt Nouveau's metal wax.
