I shouldn't edit things at 4am haha I've been thinking about doing this challenge for a while. Though I would look back at my old art and didn't know what to do. I thought it would be better to do something simple rather than too complicated, so hahah of course I had to pick Frisk. I didn't think the difference was going to be too insane, but now that I finished the new painting, I'm actually really shocked just far much I've improved in the last 6 years. I can hardly look back at my old work it looks so bad! XD HAHAHA WOW! I really have improved a lot, it's really nice to see just how far I've come with just a VERY simple simple painting lol from form to the cartoon character, my understanding of lighting, heck using multiple light sources that are different colors, the HANDS (even cartoon stubby hands), the flow in the hair, and the more loos natural pose that isn't so rigid, even just how I used the color like making the main color indigo so that the redish pinks are more accents, rather than making it all red and overwhelming and muddy. and OOHHH my gosh I used WAY too many highlights in the old one, I used that to rely on shape rather than bringing out the forms with values and proper lighting/shadings. wooowww... I'm so happy with this! I DO think however that I made the back of the fingers a bit tooooo dark when blocking the light from the soul, but hahaha oh well. but hey! room for improvement is an exciting thing, and it's good I'm aware of that so I can do EVEN BETTER in the future! :D improvement never stops woo! it's really nice to have a comparison on improvement. it makes me feel a lot better in my art, because I practically didn't paint at all in 2020. and not aasss much with 2019, and I was worried I was stagnating, but seeing this, it's really reassuring to me and my confidence as an artist that is still growing and learning.
