Description: We're posting this video about six weeks after the first day of Spring. If you live in the northern U.S., you know warm(er) weather is only just arriving. Those who don't like freezing in the cold, wind, rain, and snow can finally get back to the shooting range! Brownells Gun Techs™ Caleb and Steve have some tips on packing your range bag for that first range day of Spring. (You DO have a good range bag, right?) Pack the shooting glasses and hearing protectors, including some disposable foam ear plugs, just in case your main hearing protectors break or to help out your range buddy who forgot his. If you use electronic muffs, put fresh batteries in them and put spare batteries in the bag. While we're at it, should you go with passive or electronic hearing protectors? The guys weigh in. Next, TARGETS and a stapler to affix 'em to the backer board, plus some gaffer's tape (way better than "duck" tape) for other fastening needs. Pack a good-quality FIRST AID kit that can treat everything from minor booboos to major bleeding wounds. Bring some basic TOOLS, including gunsmithing screwdrivers, Allen wrenches, a rag, and some gun oil or CLP. Before you leave home, check your gun for obstructions in the bore, or wait.... you didn't CLEAN it after your last range trip in the fall? Best clean it up now! Finally, pack your mental range bag, too. Refamiliarize yourself with your firearm, do some dryfire practice, and review your safety procedures.
