Description: The Purple Swamphen and its chick forage for food together. The Australasian swamphen uses its long toes to grasp food while eating. Unlike altricial birds who are born blind, naked and are helpless, precocial birds like ducks, chickens and swamphens are born with downy feathers, can move about and feed on their own. They still need warmth and protection from parents. In New Zealand, it is called Pukeko. *NEW UPLOADS EVERY WEEK!* Please Like, Share, and Subscribe for more videos of wild birds, and leave a comment.
