Description: Proper leash handling plays such a huge role when it comes to training your dog. There’s this false statement out there that if you don’t “have your shit together, then your dog won’t either” and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Humans are allowed to struggle with anxiety, depression etc and still have well behaved dogs. But you do need to know how to handle a leash and communicate properly with your dog. Even the smallest thing like keeping your arm relaxed on the walk can make a difference in your entire training session. Tension on a leash gives the dog a false cue and could possibly send them into drive. So keep that arm down and focus on your body language. Stay neutral and even if you’re not mentally relaxed, at least make your body/leash feel physically relaxed.
