Description: It's the return of the Bidoof Only Run in the modern age of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl! I went through the entirety of Pokemon Platinum before with Sinnoh's most common Pokemon, and now I'm attempting it with the recent remake of Diamond & Pearl. However, I didn't think it was necessary to go through the whole game this way, considering it uses the Diamond & Pearl teams for the bosses, which aren't as challenging as their Platinum counterparts. But what has been improved upon difficulty-wise is the addition of a third version of the Pokemon League, featuring teams even more powerful than anything you'll find in Platinum. Rather than waste time with the minnows I know I can beat already, I decided to cut out the middle man and aim straight for the top and only feature these battles. As far as Pokemon go, Bidoof is still hugely unimpressive: weak stats, limited movepool, etc, but what has been buffed considerably since then are the X items. Since generation 7, they now increase the respective stat by two levels instead of one - when used on a Pokemon with the ever-fun Simple ability, it will now boost the stat by a massive four stages! Bidoof only requires half as many of these as most Pokemon to max out its stats and turn into an unstoppable death-dealing-- sorry-- faint-dealing machine. The only real concern are critical hits that break through Bidoof's boosted defences like they don't exist and are likely to defeat it in one hit. The occasional stat drop from the secondary effect of certain attacks' are also worrying. Essentially, every opportunity the foe has to attack Bidoof is a chance for them to get a critical and defeat it. As such, I made sure my Bidoof had the best stats I felt it needed. They needn't be 100% perfect across the board, but I didn't want to be stuck with a sub-par Bidoof that couldn't quite overcome the challenges it faces. I gave it Crunch and Aqua Tail for coverage, Headbutt for general attacking purposes and possible flinch chance. (Starting to really miss Return, not gonna lie) Stealth Rock is very useful for weakening opponents just enough for a one hit KO and/or preventing Focus Sash from doing its job. An Impish nature and a 252 HP and 126 Defense & Sp. Def EV spread allows Bidoof to take hits better whilst its stats are being buffed and potentially survive a critical hit better. It can dish out damage well enough once fully-charged, though a focus on attack over defence could still work for a quicker albeit more risky victory.
