Perfect licks on the other hand (also known as chordal licks) are based around the chord that is playing right at that moment. Its because of this that they sound PERFECT for that moment in the song. They are the perfect solution for tricky parts of songs where you soloing just doesn’t quite fit. A great example of this is the blues turnaround, the last 4 bars in the 12 bar blues. Thats the chordal template that were working over in today’s lesson.
