Description: Pamban Bridge is a railroad connect which interfaces the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to territory India. Opened on 24 February 1914, it was India's first ocean connect, and was the longest ocean connect in India until the opening of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in 2010. The rail connect is, generally, a customary scaffold laying on solid wharfs, yet has a twofold leaf bascule segment halfway, which can be raised to give ships and freight boats a chance to go through. Till 1988, the Pamban connect was the main surface transport that associated Tamil Nadu's island of Rameswaram to the terrain. In 1988, a street connect was additionally built parallel to the rail connect. This street connect is otherwise called Annai Indira Gandhi Road Bridge. The Pamban Road Bridge interfaces the National Highway (NH 49) with the Rameswaram island. It remains on the palk strait and between the shores of Mandapam (Place on the Indian Main land) and Pamban (One of the anglers town in Rameswaram island).
