Sound effects: soundsnap.com Overwatch End screen layout based on template by Deepak Kumar expertsguruji.com/2017/05/top-5-youtube-end-screen-templates.html Final part of this three-parter and HO BOY do I have STORY to tell about how this chapter of "The Witch's Bride" reduced me to tears during the production process hahahahaha I can laugh now but seriously I was in a very fiery hell of my own making whilst putting this together 8D For starters, the experimental panel design of the comic made for INTERESTING TIMES as the transitions from one "scene" to another sometimes (often) took place in the same panel with no clear divider between them; this is because comics can present information in a non-linear fashion and rely on readers to make perfect sense of it. This is great for comics! Not so good for videos. I tried splitting the panels up into wholly separate scenes with no bleedover, so that it made sense in video format with a strictly linear timeline; but there were a lot of times I just left scenes the way they were in the original comic panels because my ability to Photoshop is not that great. I also had other, more PRESSING CONCERNS to deal with in the production. For seconds, water, water everywhere. The problem with doing sound design for something moving in a body of water is that, if you're not careful, everything starts to sound the same after a while. Let me explain: imagine a room with a clock ticking away in the background, and someone is walking around, opening a cabinet door and putting away the dishes. That's a lot of distinct, separate sounds happening and making that scene HAPPEN with sound effects is a fairly simple affair. Now let's imagine a beach with waves lapping and someone walking into the water and then raising their arms while in the water. What does that sound like? A WHOLE BUNCH OF CONTINUOUS SPLASHING IS WHAT THAT SOUNDS LIKE IF YOURE NOT CAREFUL. Thank god for Soundsnap and its range of water movement sound effects to help me out there but haha what do you mean you want to do movement underwater too and with magic happening oh OH gooooooooooooooooooooood war flashbacks And finally, I decided that on top of the above craziness, I would combine the efforts of three actresses to produce a slightly strange, ethereal vocal quality for the Siren: where it sounded like they were speaking in multiple voices because THEY WERE. Interesting idea (based on mythology? Maybe?) but it meant more work on my end as I had to balance more voices in the sound mix and making sure they didn't get lost in all the MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF SPLASHING AROUND going on. I like how it all came out though, and hope you guys enjoy that little piece of flavour. Also, having one of the backup Siren vocals be dogtit was just too good an opportunity to pass up hon hon hon~! Anyway, this whole three-parter shebang literally took me an entire week to do, so please savor this chapter of "The Witch's Bride" and see you next time around on this crazy ride!
