I would recommend using foil for this model or, even better, tissue foil. I used a sheet of 10-inch kami in this tutorial and I also managed to fold it from 6-inch kami, but I would recommend using larger paper. I think printer paper will be a little too thick for this model, but you can certainly give it a try! For an alternative challenge, try to make a variation of this model...
