Actually using this as a mouse trap would be too risky. a trip line is pretty indiscriminate to what will set it off. This was just a casual idea i thought I would make for the fun of the build. However it is effective for eliminating polystyrene. Also, ironically one of my motives for looking at different ways traps could be made was to find a more humane method to remedy my rat problem as conventional mouse traps and baits can be pretty bad in this regard - slow painful way to go :-( obviously in the end this trap probably wouldn't be much better.
