Judd had long suffered from depression. A decade before her death, the depression worsened and was accompanied by anxiety, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts. Announcing her death, her daughters tweeted, in part: "Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness." She and her daughter Wynonna formed the duo known as the Judds in 1983. The Judds were the most successful acts in country music. They won five Grammy Awards and nine Country Music Association awards. A day after her death she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Judds became country music's most famous mother–daughter team, they scored twenty top ten hits (including fifteen number ones) and went undefeated for eight consecutive years at all three major country music awards shows. They won five Grammy Awards and a vast array of other awards and honours. Naomi even won a Country Song of the Year Grammy for writing "Love Can Build a Bridge" Her daughters Wynonna and Ashley made loving, hopeful, brutally heart-breaking remarks on Sunday night as they accepted the Judds’ Country Music Hall of Fame induction. “I’m sorry she couldn’t hang on until today,” Ashley said through tears as she stood in her mother’s place beside Wynonna. Wynonna recounted how the family gathered around Naomi’s body at the hospital Saturday afternoon and recited the 23rd Psalm, leaning in heavily on the promise that Naomi is now dwelling in the house of the Lord forever. Wynonna added, “Though my heart is broken, I will continue to sing. Naomi Judd was born on January 11, 1946, in Ashland, Kentucky to Pauline Ruth and Charles Glen Judd. she was blessed with 2 daughters together with her former husband Michael Ciminella. Daughters Christina Ciminella born when Judd was 18 and Ashley born April 1968. when she separated from her husband she raised her daughters alone.
