Pros: Lightweight, small, durable, and easy to pick up and move around This printer is 95% assembled so you can print in a few minutes While I thought it was going to be super complicated I was able to figure it all out very quickly (and I’m not a computer person or engineer!) It was really exciting to watch it print! and now that I know how to use a 3d printer I’m SUPER EXCITED to print a bunch of stuff Works with any open source software and comes with free easy to use software (Cura) Cura software has lots of settings you can tweak and when you mouse over it tells you what each of them does Comes with everything you need to print! Im also a little nervous because 3d printers seem complicated. I hope ill be able to figure it out! This 3d printer is great because it comes already assembled! The only things I have to assemble are the filament holder and the handle on top. Then squeeze the spring and insert the filament all the way through the tube until it stops. Next, I adjusted the height of the bed so it’s the right distance from the nozzle. On the Computer: Then download Cura, the program I need for the printer, entered the custom information for my printer, So it knows how big the bed is. Then Plugged in the micro sd card into the computer and I see that there are a bunch of things on here that I can print. In order to print, open the file in cura and save a new file to the sd card that the printer can use to print. Now let’s plug in the printer and insert the sd card. On the 3d Simo Printer: The instructions say I need to click on prepare, and then auto home, then click preheat PLA. Then I go to print from sd and select the file. Once it is done heating up it will start printing! It’s louder than I expected. It turned out really well except for the ears. The ears didn’t print well they are all messed up. Im not sure why, maybe ill try messing with the settings next time. Then I printed a whistle. It tells you how long it will take in cura. The whistle took 2 hours and 11 minutes. For my 3rd print I tried a different color and made a shark is really cool because you can open and close its mouth! Conclusion: I had a lot of fun using a 3d printer for the first time! It did take a little time to figure out but it was easier than I expected. Im excited to look for other cool stuff to print, and maybe even design my own!!
