Description: The first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: skl.sh/stylelikeu07211 Subscribe: youtube.com/user/stylelikeu?sub_confirmation=1 Today, we are excited (and nervous) to bring you the story of our relationship, and how the confluence of my [Elisa’s] childhood pain and low self worth was unconsciously passed onto Lily, and how we both have gotten free in our minds and bodies through our journey co-creating StyleLikeU. In this episode, I do what would once have felt unimaginable: feeling defenseless in allowing my daughter to openly discuss the biggest mistake I made as her mother, the one job I wanted to do so perfectly in an effort to make up for what I didn’t receive as a child. My lack of value manifested in, among other things, an eating disorder and susceptibility to brainwashing by the media, that transmitted to her feeling wrong in her body as a naturally voluptuous tween. Now, with years of work on myself and a journey of unlearning societal programming of all kinds through the incredible individuals we’ve had the deep honor of interviewing StyleLikeU, I have come to know so deeply that true beauty is in accepting yourself exactly as you are and where you are on your journey. Today, my daughter is my hero. In her journey of accepting herself so unapologetically, I am learning to do the same for myself. It is my greatest hope that this public catharsis between Lily and me will in some way open portals to the breaking chains of generational trauma that get unconsciously passed down when we are not able to accept ourselves unconditionally, flaws, mistakes and all. We were only able to focus on one element of our story in this final video (the original interview by our patient brother/son guest director was 4 hours haha), but the extended version of this interview is available exclusively on our patreon, where we dive deeper into the complications of our journey working together, Lily’s experience with dating and celibacy, and much much more. Thank you all for being part of this sacred space of trust and transformation and we are so grateful that we can be so vulnerable with all of you today in an effort to further release the lights and shadows around mother and daughterhood as we have experienced it. Sending love, E&L About StyleLikeU If you agree that facades separate us and being radically honest brings us together, please take a moment to subscribe to our channel and share this video with any friends or family who could benefit from feeling less alone in their journeys with mental health.
