Description: History: The history of our steam locomotive 78-468 goes back to a very successful construction by the company Vulcan-Werft AG in Szczecin in 1912. Intended for ferry traffic with light express trains on the island of Rügen, the T 18 locomotive class was soon able to demonstrate its strengths in the heavy rush-hour traffic in metropolitan areas. The very good acceleration capacity and the high top speed, which is the same in both directions of travel, made it the ideal locomotive for this field of activity. Road number 78 468 was built in 1923 by the Henschel und Sohn GmbH locomotive factory in Kassel and put into service on January 24, 1924 by the Reichsbahndirektion Oppeln in the Gleiwitz depot. In 1944 she came to the Reichsbahn division Wuppertal and was assigned to the depot Hagen-Eckesey, from 1956 to the depot Wuppertal-Vohwinkel. After being taken over by the later Deutsche Bundesbahn, it was used in North Rhine-Westphalia for 22 years, mainly in the Wuppertal area. In 1956, it also got its push-pull train control system here, which enabled it to be used in front of push-pull steam trains. From the end of 1966 until it was decommissioned in April 1969, it was used with push-pull trains in Hamburg and most recently in Wuppertal. It was finally retired on July 10, 1969, but escaped the blowtorch and went to the Museum of Hamburg History. There it was externally prepared, but not refurbished to be operational. In 1998 the Historical Railway in Oberhausen was able to purchase the locomotive from Deutsche Bahn AG, which had already been taken to the Meiningen steam locomotive works for the main inspection. As part of a funding project, it then became the property of the city of Oberhausen. After the locomotive was ready for operation, it was used by the Emscherpark Eisenbahn Tourismus Gesellschaft (EPEG) as the operator within the framework of tourism promotion in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the end of 2007, EPEG asked us whether we saw the possibility of operating the machine together in the future. As part of a cooperation agreement between Eisenbahn-Tradition e.V. and the EPEG, we took over responsibility for operating the locomotive from 2008. In January 2008 the locomotive came to Lengerich towed by a diesel locomotive. After a general inspection with extensive work on the boiler and chassis, the proud Prussian was able to drive under its own power again in the summer of 2008 and is available for special trips. The locomotive has belonged to our club since the beginning of 2017 and is therefore the second steam locomotive in our own portfolio alongside road number 50 3655. ________________________ (no copyright music) lofi type beat “rose” | royalty free vlog music | prod. by lukrembo 🍫 Free Download : toneden.io/freetousemusic... *Before using any of my music tracks in your videos, I highly recommend that you read the FAQs at my record label Free To Use Music's website (freetousemusic.com/faq/) 🍪 Soundcloud : soundcloud.com/lukrembo ⭐️ Twitter : twitter.com/LuKremBo 😀 Instagram : instagram.com/lukrembo ✉️ Email : Lukrembo@gmail.com You're free to use this music in your videos, I ask that you put this in your description : ▼ Copy & Paste ▼ -------------------------------------------------------------- ♪ Rose (Prod. by Lukrembo) Link : youtu.be/XIhyti2Qa74 -------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________ Country: Germany _______________________________ Instagram: instagram.com/yoshiko_tori instagram.com/daenerysstormbornx
