These strategies are realistic, because let’s face it - you’re probably not going to delete your apps for good and return to technology of the 1990s. In this video, I focus on strategies and boundaries that men can utilize in their use of social media to help minimize its negative effects, so that you don’t have to worry about taking that stress into your personal life where it really matters with your business, your personal stress levels, and your overall mood when interacting with family and friends. I also touch on my experience with deleting social media apps from my phone entirely, and how many of those fears that prevented me from getting social media ended up not coming to pass when I went through with it. (I’m willing to bet that if you’re curious about getting off of social that you have similar fears, but I’m here to say that it’s probably not going to turn out nearly as badly as you think it will.) There’s an idea in our culture that men shouldn’t be emotional and discuss their frustrations; our only legitimate emotion is anger, and anything else should just be kept in. In terms of social media, that creates the unrealistic expectation that men shouldn’t be upset by social media, and the only reasonable way for us to respond is to angrily fire back with a counter comment (which I am 100% guilty of, by the way). I put a lot of time, energy, and heart into this latest episode of the Movember Series, and I’m hopeful you’ll be able to get something useful out of it. Enjoy! We’re also hoping to raise $10,000 for the Movember Organization to help raise awareness around mental health and suicide prevention for men. Man Flow Yoga will match 50% of donations up to $5000, and donate 5% of our monthly sales to Movember. I invite you to donate and be part of the movement!! Let’s start changing the way men talk about our mental and emotional well-being.
