Description: You know those days where you talk yourself out of all the reasons why you shouldn’t do something? 🙋🏼‍♀️ Well that was me thinking about this ice wall! When I first looked at it I thought there is no way that I can do that (and for multiple reasons!) We had already come up the ice to 250ft, this section here was by far the most intimidating.. 🏔 For one we were now much higher up which makes looking down a little more scary! What was more concerning to me was how thin the ice was, would this hold us, could it break and what would happen if it did?! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not going to lie my heart was pounding and I questioned if we should do it. Lastly we were in a cave behind the wall which meant that we had to somehow whip ourselves around to get onto the wall. 🤪 After my guide went up and radio down that it was totally safe, was a fun climb and that all was well I decided to then just give it a go! Getting into the wall was by far the most challenging. I was pretty much just hugging the side of the wall for 5 minutes until I could figure out how to latch my axes onto the wall! I had Luke right there as he was going up after me. He was just what I needed. I could feel his energy and presence, he didn’t need to say anything (also he knew not to say anything!) just his support of being there was all I needed 🙏🏻 Once I was on the wall my arms and legs were shaking and even though you are attached to a rope your food slipping or ax not getting into the ice makes you gasp! 🧊 I kept saying to myself: Breath Relax One step at a time! Because all I had to do was keep making little shifts to get up to the top. I would take a break and say ok how can I just get 1/2 foot up? Then I would say the same thing. Before I knew it I was at the top! What seemed impossible, was made possible with changing my mindset to simply: let’s just give it a go and then keep on going! 🙌🏻 I think we as humans so often talk ourselves out of things that challenge us. It’s normal! Yet if we can have the attitude of let’s just give it a go, those challenges become the greatest growth moments of our life! (And also the most exciting moments!) I got this. You got this. We all got this when we just give it a go and look at the positives! 👊🏻
