Description: Most of the planets in the Solar System have moons. We have discovered almost 200 in our Solar System alone, and so we expect that the Milky Way is teeming with moons- perhaps more moons than planets and stars. With this many, it greatly increases the number of worlds in the galaxy which could support life- and so we are keen to find them. However, they are so distant and dark that detecting extrasolar moons, or "exomoons", is a tremendous challenge.
