Description: Photography by Valji Varia natural-variation.com Female monitor lizards lay approximately 50 eggs, usually in underground nests. Having not eaten many months, she has to reach deep into her fat and nutrients reserves to provide for her young. Timbavati Game Reserve Located north of the Sabi Sands and on the western edge of Kruger the area is characterised by acacia, mopane, combretum and open woodland. The reserve is home to over 40 mammal species and over 360 species of bird and was made famous by McBride and the discovery of ‘the white lions of Timbavati’.
