Description: Lyrics Below smarturl.it/y625dl instagram.com/themostmona facebook.com/monahaydar/m... Featuring (IG) @lvernon2000 @EbonyJanice Peace First a story: I had invited Tabitha Haly to join us for this video because I wanted representation of all body types to show what we meant by "good bodies." Tabi was perfect because she represents an amazingly good body. "I am able." youtu.be/7uKi7enKAQI .Tabi uses a wheelchair but the building we were shooting at wasn't wheelchair accessible so I brought in a company to fix that, no matter the cost. Their assessment turned out that they couldn't put a ramp on the steps because that steps were too steep and to make it accessible the ramp would have had to extend out into the street which was illegal. Long story short, New York City is horribly inaccessible and I was so sad that Tabi couldn't join us because she represents a great kind of body Some historical context: All bodies are good bodies no matter what society has to say about them because they are ours. period. No one gets to dictate what a "good" body is to us anymore. Our bodies are good and worthy of love and that's facts. This song is about loving our bodies beyond their function. We are all pure essence beneath the form and that essence is perfection. Our ideas of what so called, "good bodies" are, comes from a very colonized philosophy and ideology-- it all stems from Empire, who was a citizen and who was not. Who was colonized, conquered or enslaved and who was a citizen. They made fun of the people of places like Persia for being too fair and not being able to tan unlike the Greco-Romans. They called people from the African continent "Dog-headed." All of this is preserved in historical texts- one of which is the Bible which contains so much information on who the Roman Empire saw as citizen or not. People were maimed, blinded or made deaf to show their non-citizenship, or to show their position as slaves. Babies who were not born "perfect," were often left to die. This is what we think of as "civilization." Ableism is an inherited ignorance that it's time to let go of. And a note: We believe that our clothes don't make us free and that no program, pill, perfume or product can make us love our bodies. We were using the fragrance to represent the the transformation that is possible when we do the good work of sitting with the wholeness of ourselves and working with compassion and love on the journey to liberation. Our clothing was used as a symbol to represent liberation into the knowledge and truth that when we come to love ourselves and our bodies more deeply, we become more free. Our clothes do not make us free-- our hard work in healing our trauma and wounds - rewiring our brains for liberation makes us free and we pray for a compassionate liberation - a tender liberation for all.
