Description: #TimeToWorship Some of us - perhaps more than just “some” - have learned through some hard knocks in life that you really can’t trust too many people. It’s possible that we live life battling deep emotional wounds and scars from past hurts in relationships. Against this rather dark backdrop, we see hidden negatives behind people’s words and actions. We suspect hidden motives. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. I hope you’ve experienced God’s help in dealing with such wounding from the past, setting you free to love people without allowing those negative, suspicious thoughts to become a major barrier to giving yourself to know people and also be known by people. At the same time, we understand that it would be foolish and naive to give your trust to people who have already proven themselves on numerous occasions not worthy of our trust. However, God’s Spirit has shown me how easy it is for all of us to allow our natural propensity to think negatively of people to infect the way we think towards and relate with God. Consequently, we are quick to interpret the “knocks” in our relationship with God as proofs that we can’t really trust God. So, instead of drawing near to God, we keep ourselves at a safe distance from Him. Our thoughts towards God reflect our thoughts towards the people who have wounded us in human relationships. Here then is the message God has laid on my heart to share with you today - the closer we come to the heart of God, the more we know the true nature and character of God, the more eager we are to trust Him. The very thought that God would have some negative motive behind what He’s allowing to happen in our lives goes right out the window. Yes, He may “wound,” but always in perfect love. Yes, He may speak strong words of rebuke, but every word He speaks is bathed and spoken in perfect love. Instead of holding ourselves back from God and feeling we need to stay at a safe distance from Him, we delight to throw ourselves in absolute abandon on His kindness and mercy. Fear of what He might do to harm us is replaced with a joy-filled surrender to Him because we know He is utterly good and kind and wise in all His ways and in all He plans for the lives of His beloved ones. Whenever you and I find ourselves thinking suspicious thoughts towards God, let’s quickly recognise where such thoughts are coming from - from our own “diseased heart” with more than just a little help from“the father of lies.” Fill your life with joy and peace and freedom and blessing by taking to heart this Scripture: “Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.” (Isaiah 26:4 NLT) "For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." (Psalm 100:5) Mengejar Hadir Mu - Sidney Mohede Reflection by Pst. Graham Roberts
