Description: When Doctor Strange is on screen, wicked special effects aren’t far behind! In No Way Home, CGI played a vital part in bringing Doctor Strange’s spell to life. When it came to the Sanctum Sanctorum, well, the weather could be wildly unpredictable - and it was all thanks to some very salty practical effects and CG. It’s no surprise heavy CG was key for the mirror dimension moments throughout the series. Pretty well every single part of each frame is completely computer-generated! Not only does he cast very cool and sometimes chaotic spells, but he also can float and fly. His powers on set? All thanks to harnesses of all sorts, setting him up to most authentically act out what he was meant to be doing on screen. Infinity War had some epic moments - including a shot of an impressive crew walking through rubble-filled streets - which in actuality were filled with mini fires on a set! Need to travel to Hong Kong? Sometimes it’s not possible, so when that’s the case, CGI and brilliantly detailed practical sets come to the rescue. While the team did in fact travel to Kathmandu to film for a portion, they also recreated the set in the studio to pick up some shots later on. Who knew a solid stand-in for magic on set would be cord light? It gets a very cool upgrade during the CG process. As much as Cumberbatch was on screen himself, the CGI version of the Doctor took over for a surprising amount of parts - how did they capture him so convincingly?
