Description: A full journey on the Konkan Railways aboard the Kochuveli Bikaner Express. Undertaken at the beginning of June, just before the onset of the monsoon, this journey takes you on the Konkan Railways, right from Mangalore at the Karnataka-Kerala border to Ratnagiri, in southern Maharashtra. Powered by twin Ernakulam WDM3As, the Kochuveli Bikaner Express takes you through from Mangalore through the lush green southern coastal Karnataka countryside of Udupi, Bhatkal and Mookambika, pushing northwards up to Karwar. The route is punctuated by gorgeous rivers, none less so than the Sharavathi at Honnavar, and Kali at Karwar. The route crosses into Goa post Karwar with the major station being Madgaon. We cross over into Maharashtra after Zarap and then continue northwards along the Konkan, with an increasing frequency of tunnels. The oncoming monsoons accompany us right from Murdeshwar till Mangaon with a spurt of lightning in the evening. Major crossings include: 1. LTT Kochuveli Express 2. LTT Ernakulam Duronto Express 3.
