Description: Hello again fellow subscribers of Charcoal Monkey. This time I bought a locally marketed ultra beeft eight inch car subwoofer, the Lightning Lab XLS LL-8-D2 8" 500w RMS dual 2 Ohm car subwoofer. Watch the future video where I build this one a very cool and unique kerfed ported box. Without a further ado, here's the detailed timeline: 00:00 - Unboxing of the brand new Lightning Lab LL-XLS-8D2 subwoofer. 00:20 - What I like about this particular product is that it has a very nice and very secure factory packaging. 00:40 - The beefy 8" subwoofer is factory wired with 8 gauge cable. 00:50 - Weighs about 6.7 kilograms. 01:00 - Let's measure all its Thiele/small parameter data using our very trusted Dayton Audio DATS v3. 01:10 - First we need to measure every voice coil's Thiele/small parameters. 01:30 - While we are at the middle of testing, we will measure its Vas, Cms and Mms by adding a measured weight and know its speaker surround distance. 02:00 - Then, we will wire the subwoofer into PARALLEL and measure its data. In this phase, we will get the values of the subwoofer's general Fs (open air resonance) and, surround diameter (Dia) and Qms. 02:20 - Next, we'll wire the sub into SERIES. All this data is essential to box designing tools such as Bass Box Pro 6. 02:50 - Finally, we'll measure its physical dimensions. Mounting distance, mounting depth, magnet thickness, magnet width, mounting screw hole distance and its overall displacement. That is all for now for this ultra beefy, ultra powerful electro-mechanical data and properties. You will be needing this in designing your subwoofer enclosures using the Lightning Lab XLS 8 subwoofer. I hope you will find this video very significant for your Lightning Lab subwoofer box designs and builds. Be sure to subscribe on my channel for I will build this one an awesome enclosure very soon!
