For the past 50 years, he has sustained himself along with his wife and 10 children through fishing. Living in a small hut on the edge of the ocean, he wakes up early in the morning to take out his little fishing boat to catch the days food, any excess is sold at the market. Our mini documentary that we shot on the newly released Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K follows Desiderio through his average day in the Life. The Pocket Cinema Camera 4K was the obvious choice for a shoot like this, as we were working in challenging environments, with no access to mains electricity, where mobility and keeping your kit light was essential. Certain locations (Such as Desiderio's tiny and mildly unstable fishing boat) would have been nearly impossible to shoot in with conventional cinema cameras, but the size and weight of the Pocket 4K meant that we were able to capture it, and the camera doesn't compromise when it comes to quality. Throughout the process of filming I was very grateful for the dynamic range, as the bright Philippines sun could have caused issues for other cameras, and once we got the footage into post and started working on the colour, the amount of data available really started to show.
