Johnny Depp has been spotted appearing to laugh at Amber Heard’s lawyer after the attorney objected his own question during his $50 million defamation lawsuit in Virginia. As the actor’s house manager, Ben King, took the stand for his testimony, he recalled an incident where Depp’s finger had been severed, which resulted in Amber Heard’s lawyer, Ben Rottenborn, halting his statement citing a ‘hearsay objection’. The objection prompted The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, along with his lawyer, to giggle quietly. The judge added: "Wait, you asked the question." However, this isn’t the only time hearsay evidence has caused confusion during the defamation lawsuit. While the 58-year-old actor was speaking about a chef making Heard’s favourite Mexican meal for her birthday, he caught himself and said: “That’s hearsay, I guess.” Lawyers representing Amber Heard are cross-examining Johnny Depp following his two days of testimony in the $50m (£38.2m) defamation lawsuit he brought against his ex-wife. The trial is in its second week at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia. Heard is being sued by Depp for implying he ab*sed her in a 2018 op-ed she wrote. Although she did not name him, his lawyers claim her allegations have made it difficult for the actor to land movie roles, turning him from “Cinderella to Quasimodo” in Hollywood, as the Pirates of the Caribbean actor described it.
