Description: It all happened one fully moon-lit evening in Dublin town. Ireland, to be exact, where I spent the month of November and December recordings the sights and sounds of the old world. Most of the days, I was with that band of legends the Mary Wallopers (youtu.be/n_1TqcTR_wc) in the notorious border town of Dundalk. When I asked the boys whom I should record during my brief stint in Dublin, they knew just the songwriter for me. Iona Zajac and Daragh Lynch actually come to our rescue when the Walloper's van broke down (not uncommon?), picking us up in their own van and taking us the rest of the way to Dublin. The excursion made for plenty of time to get to know each other, and they're all wonderful and charming folks. The city was buzzing with traffic, so we snuck down a little medieval looking cobblestone alleyway for what little quiet we could find. The quiet was worth it, because Iona is a musician who deserves undivided attention. Her sounds are like warm, comforting ocean waves on a breezy night, and I was left in a state of relaxing meditation each time. I'm thankful for her time that evening, and can't wait to revisit her progress in Dublin when I inevitably return.
