Once you have a grasp on modes you can start expanding your music and go well beyond the usual major and minor scales. UPDATE: Quite a few people have pointed out that the Phrygian mode isn't all that uncommon in certain styles of music, and I was pretty dismissive of both the Phrygian and the Locrian modes in this video. I think I let my own musical biases show through more than they should have, and I'll try to be more careful about that in the future. So... yeah. Sorry. I learned an important lesson though: If you want people to comment on your video, just say something they don't like :)
