Description: A commonly underused or incorrectly used part of the letter in the IELTS General test Task 1 is the letter closing. Many writers either forget to include it or write a memorized sentence that does not always apply. In this video we look at the function of the letter closing, which is the sentence before the end of the letter and the signoff, to see how it is important to match it to the context and purpose of the letter. We will look at some sample sentences for this because most students simply end their letters will “I look forward to your reply.” This can be a fine closing, but it does not apply to all letter types.
