Description: Learn one of the most iconic intro riffs of all time! In this week's PMT College lesson, Leigh Fuge of MusicTeacher.com shows us how to play the classic Slash opening riff to the track 'Slither' by Velvet Revolver! Slither is a really fun riff to play, but it is also a great introduction to Drop D tuning. If you’ve never played in Drop D tuning before, it is when the Low E of the guitar is tuned down a full tone to a D. The tuning low to high now reads D A D G B E. This tuning allows you to do power chords with a single finger, which his exactly what this whole riff is based around. 'Slither' is one of those riffs that every guitar player will learn at some stage. It’s a great introduction to drop D tuning and riffs, also how you can switch it easily to a single note run! The riff itself is considered to be a relatively easy riffs which makes it an ideal riff to learn for newer guitar players. However, as with everything we learn, easy is a subjective word. This riff, as simple as it might be considered, still has a few challenges! The riff was played by Slash, and you can choose to play the main rhythm part 4 times, or you can play it 3 times and add the final lead figure as per the record. Timing wise, this is straight 8 th notes all the way through so you’re going to be playing two notes on every single beat. You can either alternate strum the chords, or you can downpick it, it’s also simple enough that you have the choice of using a single finger for each chord, or alternate fingers. #VelvetRevolver #Slash #Slither #GuitarLesson #DropDRiff __________________________________________________________ Subscribe to PMTVUK: youtube.com/c/PMTVUK?sub_confirmation=1 Find us on social media: facebook.com/PMTHouseOfRock twitter.com/pmthouseofrock instagram.com/pmthouseofrock pinterest.co.uk/pmthouseofrock Find Your Local PMT Store: bit.ly/2KdwOXn
