Description: Gumbo is a soup/stew traditionally served over rice. It starts with a roux or okra thickener, then cook down the trio of veggies then finally add the stock and meat. Simmer for 3 hours to all day to get the most out of the flavor and serve over rice ____↓↓↓↓↓↓ CLICK "SHOW MORE" TO GET RECIPE ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓ ____ Subscribe to my channel youtube.com/ashleemariecakes?sub_confirmation=1 Gumbo has a long tradition in Louisiana. With roots in French, Spanish, African and German cuisines. There is two main categories, cajun and creole gumbo. Both use sausage but Creole gumbo tends to start with a roux and be thinner, use tomatoes and shellfish while Cajun gumbo is thicker, uses okra and is usually fowl based (duck or chicken) Want to catch more Live recipe videos? Add the chicken, sausage, Ro Tel, broth, bay leaves, water and salt and pepper and bring mixture to a simmer with the lid on. Turn the heat to low and continue to simmer for a minimum of 20 mins, but the longer you simmer the better the flavor. Traditionally you’d simmer a minimum of 3 hours to all day. Keep the lid on for long term cooking, if you take the lid off too often you might need to add more water. Serve over rice (don't serve the bay leaves) #gumbo #easydinnerrecipe #creolegumbo MORE LIVE DINNER RECIPE VIDEOS Pork Tenderloin with Raspberry Chipotle sauce youtu.be/mY9bV6n-oQg Homemade Pizza dough youtu.be/hi5yCrA-dME Alfredo chicken lasagna youtu.be/Fy8UfTzZk5o Beef Chili and Cornbread youtu.be/dIMdUJUHvns Orange chicken and Sesame chicken youtu.be/_8FMTe_HhY4 Pressure cooker Jambalaya recipe youtu.be/WInDt5s4kS8 Copycat Penne Rustica youtu.be/mnzegFdtT7I Monte Cristo youtu.be/lyzQimsusGE Shepherds Pie youtu.be/_TC4_Jp_t38 Stacked Red Enchiladas youtu.be/rje5Jx8qZV8 Broccoli Cheddar Soup youtu.be/ws_0gVMT678 Mac and Cheese youtu.be/gw50XsWI_rA Loaded Baked Potato soup youtu.be/W_iMEu-lQhw Alfredo and Breadsticks youtu.be/S5JhiSOtvlg Turkey or Chicken Pot Pie youtu.be/EtWHiMrGdqg MORE DINNER RECIPE VIDEOS Baked salmon with instant pot risotto youtu.be/66D5YO2eLmY instant pot tomato soup youtu.be/1n6dY1Dhk2Y instant pot coconut rice and satay chicken youtu.be/x9T5gii98QM Instant Pot Coconut Curry youtu.be/pq2b4MR3T7g Pork Cabbage Gyozas youtu.be/zHEvJpOP5QA Honey walnut shrimp youtu.be/jBRv17w_f9k Homemade Tamales youtu.be/fKYo8W53EUo Clam Chowder and Cornbread youtu.be/HbBSza0OlbM ASHLEE MARIE - I'm all about from scratch recipes, cake decorating tutorials and fun themed foods.
