Here are some tips I cover for how to grow a gaming channel fast in 2020: #1 The importance of building a character on YouTube. A lot of viewers like to watch YouTubers they can relate to. It's important to build a personal connection with your audience because it helps them get to know you better. Ask yourself, mostly every gamer that’s successful on YouTube has somewhat of a character tied with the games they play or the content they create. Thousands of people all play the same games you’re playing, so getting subscribers isn’t all about what game you play or how good you are. Don't try to be another Ninja, DanTDM, or PewDiepie by trying to mimic everything they do. Be yourself and build a character around the things you like and how you want your audience to connect with you. #2 Understanding Your YouTube Analytics. You should be able to look at your analytics and understand why a video is doing poorly or why it’s doing very well. On YouTube, the amount of time people spend watching your videos or your streams is extremely important in deciding if YouTube will recommend your video to more people. #3 Improving Your Audience Retention On YouTube. The main goal of YouTube is to keep people on their website the longest, so the longer people watch a video of yours, the better the video will usually perform. If people like your video enough to watch most of it, YouTube can see that your audience retention is high, and use that information to recommend your video. That’s basically how you gain new subscribers and new viewers, and I have made a very specific video on how to gain more watch time that you should check out (linked below). #4 Raising Your Click Through Rate On YouTube. CTR (click through rate) is the number of clicks, divided by the number of thumbnail impressions, or how many times your thumbnail is seen on YouTube. YouTube says that half of all channels and videos on YouTube have an impressions click through rate that can range between 2% and 10%. If you’re on the low side of that, try changing your thumbnails! Then see if your click through rate increases or decreases. Sometimes I’ll have a video that I think was amazing but my click through rate was very low and then YouTube didn’t recommend it to more people. It realized others didn’t want to click it when they saw it. So, then I would change my thumbnail maybe the next day or a week later and I’d usually see a big improvement. #5 Study which videos perform well and why. Certain videos will help you gain more subscribers on YouTube and help you get more views on your videos. So finding which of your videos do better than other and get you more subscribers and viewers is a crucial step to take as a gaming channel, all you need to do is check your analytics! It could be as simple as the game you’re playing, the thumbnail, the facecam lighting, the topic you’re talking about.
