Description: This was my first session with a client who is struggling with her new 3 month old puppy. As we all know, puppies are a TON of work!! But you can get a huge head start just by working on the basics. I can’t stress enough the importance of building some foundation skills as soon as you bring your puppy home. Take the leadership role! Keep your puppy on a leash at all times, do obedience drills using it’s daily kibble, keep a strict schedule and absolutely kennel up your puppy when you can’t have your eyes on it. Puppies need mental and physical stimulation, and short little training sessions are great for these young dogs. Spread your sessions out throughout the day and start building a healthy relationship with your dog from the start. You can also start addressing nonsense behaviors from a young age as well like puppy biting, leash biting, barking and whining. The sooner you can inhibit these behaviors, the less time your puppy will have to practice them.
