Description: The process begins with caring for the sheep, shearing them, washing the wool and carding the fleece. Natural dyes are obtained from cochineal, an insect living on prickly pear cactus that yields a crimson red, yellow from pomegranate peels, brown from pecan shells, and blue from indigo, also called añil. It can take from a week to a month to craft a single rug. You can see more of Ruiz Bazan Family's work here: novica.com/artistdetail/?faid=339
